Amazon Comprehend is a security vendor product that anonymizes sensitive data that is built by Amazon. As a part of AWS, this product prioritizes safety and compliance as first class offerings. In particular, their Trust and Safety feature “can mask up to 22 universal PII entities like address, age, credit card number etc. and up to 14 country specific entities like US social security number, CA health number, Passport number etc.”
We leverage Amazon Comprehend’s Trust and Safety feature to detect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and remove this from any user text that is stored on our servers. This also means that no PII will be sent to our downstream vendors, like OpenAI and Anthropic.

Unfortunately, enabling Amazon Comprehend will decrease Cal’s ability to answer questions effectively. This occurs because some potentially important information will be removed from Cal’s question context, like name, email, or an order identifier. When enabled, Cal will only be able to answer general questions and his customized emails will not be personalized to a user’s past history.
Contact [email protected] and mention that you’d like to enable PII Redaction for Cal.
